President’s Message – April 2017

Much fun was had by all at our “Rock Bingo” March meeting! We all had fun and went home with new additions.

The Board has passed a resolution to recognize a CMS member every 3 months for their volunteer work for our Club. Board members are NOT eligible for this award. At our April meeting we will recognize our first club member.

The speaker this month will be long time rockhounder Glenn Morita, of the Marysville Club. Glenn will be speaking on rock and crystal collecting in Washington. Glenn is the WA Mineral Council West Side Trustee and WA Mineral Council Newsletter Editor. He is driving to Kent from Marysville at a peak traffic time so let’s all show him a big welcome and sign of appreciation by having good attendance for this meeting.

Our membership is slowly growing. I have been distributing our brochure at the Rock & Gem Shows in the area, business cards at a few rock related retail stores and brochures at the Gem Faire and Puyallup Fair courtesy booths. All of these events are all helping to let people know that our Club still exists. I want to thank everyone that helped out at the recent Gem Faire booth.

It’s my goal this year to have a wire wrapping techniques class. As the weather improves I will try to find a place, day and time. It will most likely be on a Friday. There will be a sign up sheet at the meeting so that I will know how large a space we will need. I will also be printing up a class supply list.
