October’s Note from the Presidents Desk

Last month Mike and I have worked several days at the Puyallup Fair. It was great to see the happy smiles, big eyes and ooo’s and ah’s of excitement on the kids faces when they got a polished rock. It was so much fun and at the end of each day we went home with such a happy feeling.

Hopefully, our Club will get some new members from our efforts at the Fair. Thank you to everyone that helped out at the booth!

October 10th is Washington State’s Indigenous Peoples Day. October 23rd is Federal Native American Day. To acknowledge the Native Americans our October program will be on Thunder Eggs. For Show ‘n Tell bring in a type of rock that has an Indian Folklore and tell us the story.

The next item on our Club agenda is the Gem Fair on  November 11th to the 13th at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. This is only a 3 day event. We are doing this in conjunction with the Puyallup Club. There will be 2 display cases at our table showing what can be done with rocks, minerals, beading, wire wrapping, cabbing, faceting, silversmithing and etc. Please let me know if you make or have anything unique along this line and would like to lend it to the Club for display.
