Cascade Mineralogical Society – Kent, Washington


Cascade Mineralogical Society is a non-profit educational organization. Our club is a proud member of the Northwest Federation of Mineralogical Societies, American Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the WA Mineral Council.

We welcome individuals interested in geology, mineralogy, paleontology, gems and related lapidary arts to join us. The objective of the club is to stimulate interest in the study of the earth sciences, lapidary arts and related subjects. These goals will be accomplished through educational presentations, personal experience and demonstrations at club meetings and other public presentations. The club also provides opportunities for field trips, rock collecting and social gatherings. We are located in Kent, WA.

Presidents Message

  • Mike and I just returned from a 3 week trip to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show. It was quite an experience and nothing of what I had expected. I am quite excited that I was able to buy several mineral specimen’s (that we don’t usually find here in the Northwest) for the raffle at our Rock and Gem Show. In addition, courtesy of Herbert Shepard, I was able to obtain an Amethyst Cathedral for the drawing. We really need volunteers for the Show so please contact Mark and commit to filling a position.   • Thursday, March 8th – General Meeting

    Tonight’s speaker is: Joan, Co-Owner of Jerry’s Rock Shop. Joan will be speaking on everything from rocks and minerals in general to being aware of fakes and not getting scammed. Show ‘n Tell: An item from your collection that is not from the northwest.

  • Monday – March 5th – Board & Show Committee Meeting

    Just a reminder that our monthly Board Meeting/Show Committee meeting will be at: Green River College – Student Union Bldg. Combined Show Committee & Board Meeting @ 7:00 pm  The object of holding our meeting at the Student Union is so everyone can see our show venue and also evaluate getting additional space. If everyone knows what the venue looks like, it will help us planning the show and also to make a future decision if we need additional space.
